By Spanish Resolution of 11th December 2008 (Spanish Official Gazette from 7th January 2009), of the Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts, the call for proposals is underway for subsidies supporting the production of short films and for short films already made in accordance with Article 12 of Real Decreto 526/2002, de 14 de junio [Spanish royal decree 526/2002, of 14th June].
2,000,000 euros is set aside for these subsidies, attributable to the available credit in the budget allocation of 24,101,470 to the Fondo de Proteccion a la Cinematografia, del programa 335C, Cinematografia [Cinematographic Protection Fund of Programme 335C, Cinematography], from the expenses budget of the Institute for 2009.
Having received a high number of applications during the first phase of the call for proposals, an increase was made in the amount reserved for these subsidies with the goal of there being sufficient to achieve the final aim of encouraging the production of quality short films at competitive costs.
In this regard, this Administrative Office has resolved:
to increase by 1,000,000 euros, charged to the budget allocation of 24,101,470, Fondo de Proteccion a la Cinematografia [Cinematographic Protection Fund] of the expense budget in force for the Institute, Programme 33C, to the amount initially set aside for subsidies for the production of short films, with a call for proposals by Resolucion de 11 de diciembre de 2008 [Resolution of 11th December 2008]. This amount will be divided between 400,000 euros to increase grants for projects and 600,000 euros for subsidies to short films already made.
