Brad Pitt’s presence arouses great excitement.

The San Sebastian Film Festival is a great success this year. Even on day one we could see Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino walking down the red carpet, presenting the eagerly-awaited film Inglourious Basterds . On the same day, the film was released in commercial cinemas throughout Spain.

What’s more, tomorrow Atom Egoyan’s film Chloe will be shown, as well as Woody Allen’s latest, Whatever Works , although he won’t be able to attend this year.

In total, 15 films will be competing for the Golden Shell, of which three are Spanish: The Damned (aka The Condemned ) by Isaki Lacuesta; La mujer sin piano by Javier Rebollo, and Yo, tambien by Alvaro Pastor and Antonio Naharro. Awaiting confirmation is the screening of “The Dancer and the Thief”, the Fernando Trueba film which will be competing with Map of the Sounds of Tokyo and Gordos to represent Spain at the Oscars.

The most attractive section has to be “Zabaltegui Pearls”, as, in addition to Tarantino and Woody Allen’s projects, we will also be able to see The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus , by Terry Gilliam.
