Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz will be filming the last part of the film Wichita , produced 20th Century Fox, in Cadiz in the middle of November or beginning of December. The streets of the Old Town will be the location for a very complex chase scene.
Directed by James Mangold, who made Girl, Interrupted and the famous Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line , Wichita tells the story of a couple who, after meeting on a blind date, undertake a journey to the most beautiful places in the world.
This production, part of which will be filmed in Seville, has received the support of the Cadiz Film Office, run by the Town Councils Institute for Development, Employment and Training (Ifef). Shooting in Cadiz is scheduled to last between five and ten days and the scenes filmed will take up some 20 minutes of the movie.
At a press conference, the director of the production company Calle Cruzada SL, Jose Luis Escolar, responsible for Fox productions shoots in Spain, said that Cadiz had been chosen because of its light. Escolar also commented that Wichita is Foxs big hope for the coming year".
It has been estimated that between 500 and 2000 extras will be needed to fill out this production which will immortalise several streets in the Old Town of Cadiz, a city which has already hosted other important film shoots, such as the ambitious film Alatriste starring Viggo Mortensen, or Die Another Day in which an exuberant Halle Berry is seen bathing at the "La Caleta" beach, watched avidly by James Bond himself (Pierce Brosnan).
