Pixars latest film is, without a doubt, the big hit of the year. With a debut four weeks ago, and after losing first place to Public Enemies, the movie once again has the box-office sales crown. Adding together revenues from the two types of projections, normal and 3D, Up earned 1,141,292 euros this past week and more than 18 million since its premiere.
In second place was the previously mentioned Public Enemies , starring two of them most charismatic and versatile actors on the big screen today, Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. The films earnings were very close to Up, with 1,125,204 euros.
Third place went to The Hangover , the surprise of the season with the highest box-office sales of a comedy in the U.S., which indirectly tells about the bachelor party for a man in his thirties. The film has taken in 861,798 euros and a total of 2,690,606 euros from Spanish ticket sales. Trailing far behind is the film for children Aliens in the Attic with only 457,182 euros in revenues.
Taking fifth place was the martial arts film Ong Bak 2 , with 365,060 euros. The Thai film is the latest entry by boxer Muay Thai. In the sixth slot was G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra , with 306,108 euros, followed by the duel between Denzel Washington and John Travolta in The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 , which held on to seventh place with revenues of 216,722 euros.
Closing out the top ten list were the horror film The Haunting in Connecticut , which fell to eighth at 175,111 euros, followed by Lars Von Triers controversial film Antichrist , at 149,285 euros, and Land of the Lost , the new comedy starring Will Ferrell which could only reach tenth place with earnings of 136,258 euros.
