Up , the new digital film produced by Pixar and Disney, became the animated film with the most successful premiere all year last Thursday, earning 930,000 euros during its first day out in cinemas. The movie, directed by Oscar-winner Peter Docter (Monsters, Inc.) has brought in a total of 5.527.397 euros if we combine the standard version and the 3D version, making it one of the most successful releases this year.
The film starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta,The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 , seems to have won over Spanish audiences as it has already amassed a total of 3,325,699 euros in its second week, and attracted over 300,000 spectators.
Sam Raimis new film, Drag Me to Hell , has achieved a respectable fourth place, and has overtaken Harry Potter. The director, who has once again opted for the horror-comedy genre, which is what his fans like best, has managed to earn over 900,000 during the films first week in cinemas.
This week the most famous wizard on film will have to be content with fifth place, as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has earned a total of 762,846 euros. As for Ice Age 3 , this movie is now in sixth and seventh place with its two versions and this week has earned a total of 523,885 euros. These last two movies have little to worry about as they have brought in totals of 12,152,876 and 19,827,675 euros, respectively.
Sandra Bullock and The Proposal are hanging on in there at eighth place with 239,928 euros and the teenage summer comedy Sexdrive has only earned 207,655 euros in its first week in cinemas.
Last but not least is the renowned film by Niels Arden Oplev, Milennium: Part 1 Men Who hate Women. This Swedish thriller has earned 164,617 euros and so managed to stay in the Top Ten for ten weeks.
