Arantza and Pello, a young couple in exile in the south of France, decide to give up armed resistance and return to the Basque Country. In Bilbao they discover that after all those years, their relationship is coming to a natural end. Pellos situation is becoming untenable; he is unemployed and obliged to accept the hospitality of Arantzas parents. Luis, an old comrade in arms of Arantzas suddenly appears in the city. He lives in a remote village in La Rioja on the Basque Country border working with Lombardi, a news reporter, on a documentary about recent Euskadi history. After various setbacks, Arantza discovers that crossing the border does not mean leaving the past behind you. However, there may be another way to do it...
