One day Jonas Bargueño, an ordinary, run-of-the mill driving school instructor, decides to drive from Madrid to Avila in reverse. His aim is to make a documentary about himself beating the Guinness record for the longest distance ever driven backwards. He is convinced that if he manages it, hell win back Maria, his ex-girlfriend, with whom he is still in love. Jonas journey is well planned; he travels by night on deserted minor roads, and all goes well until drowsiness and an acute pain in the neck begin to take their toll. At that moment, when he is about to give up, he picks up a peculiar old man who flatters his prowess and persuades him to continue. Whats more, on the same road, Maria is about to embark on a wife-swapping session with her lover, Leo. These two plots and a dangerous arsonist come together to make up a very, very strange road movie, told with deadpan seriousness.
